2 injured after crashing into St. John AUMP Church in Newark,DE.
According to reports, early this morning officers were dispatched to a car dealership with suspicious activity in progress located on the 300 block
of East Cleveland Ave involving a black sedan with individuals on foot.
As police were arriving to the call, the black sedan pulled out of the property in the direction of E. Cleveland Ave.
As officers tried to perform a traffic stop the sedan fled westbound. Officers called off the attempts to stop the vehicle.
As police were on lookout & patrolling the dealership, around 4:30am officers received word that the car they had been pursuing had crashed into St. John AUMP Church located along New London Road in Newark, DE.
First responders arrived on scene to find a single car collision into a crumbling brick wall.
Two individuals (both males; 24 years old) were taken to an area hospital and deemed in stable condition.
An investigator with the City Of Newark is to examine the building for potential structure issues following this crash. This is the second crash in 6 months to occur here
